Fascinated by the grace of the forms and the magic of the human anatomy, Beatrice Bissara could not remain indifferent to the ballet dancers’ one, all in curves and in perfect and fragile equilibrium.
Inspired by the major themes of the classical ballet repertoire, the sculptures of this series exalt, in their loads and sharps, the fineness and the strength, the lightness and the precision of the dance postures.
If these sculptures reveal the love that the artist brings to the harmonious beauty, they also suggest her strong demanding. The beauty is not easy, nor it is necessarily trifling. In the dance, as in the art of statuary, the perfection can only be reached by the control of the body and the movement, the surpassing of oneself. And in the effort to reach the grace, a rare density is laying on.
